A new technical report provides a synthesis of over 15 years (2001-2017) of aerial and vessel survey effort documenting baleen whale seasonal occurrence and habitat use of continental shelf waters adjacent to the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay. The results form this data collection and analysis contribute to regional mid-Atlantic ocean planning efforts and complement other ongoing U.S. Navy monitoring projects. Monitoring efforts like those presented here, provide important information for compliance with environmental laws and development of mitigation measures.
