Atlantic Fleet Training and Testing Update

Posted on November 20, 2013

The U.S. Navy has prepared an Environmental Impact Statement/Overseas Environmental Impact Statement (EIS/OEIS) to evaluate the potential environmental effects associated with maintaining military readiness training and research, development, test and evaluation activities (referred to as “training and testing”) conducted in the Atlantic Fleet Training and Testing Study Area. In addition to the EIS/OEIS, appropriate assessments have been performed under the Marine Mammal Protection Act and Endangered Species Act.

The Marine Mammal Protection Act Final Rule and Endangered Species Act Biological Opinion and Conference Opinion for Atlantic Fleet Training and Testing (AFTT) have been finalized and are available for download from the National Marine Fisheries Service Office of Protected Resources (Final Rule, Biological Opinion)

More information can be found on the AFTT website (aftteis.com).
